Here I sit at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute, known as RIMYI, in front of the statue of Patanjali on my first trip to Pune in 2006. Now 10 years later, I am about to embark on my fourth trip to the mother institute of Iyengar Yoga for a month of learning.
The opportunity to study at RIMYI is a privilege and I am grateful to so many people who have helped make the trip possible. Thanks must go first to my beloved teachers, Dean and Rebecca Lerner and Mary Dunn, along with Laurie Blakeney and Manouso Manos, who guide me on the path of yoga and take me beyond my perceived limits. I deeply appreciate my students, who have been extremely generous and have helped support this trip with their lovely cards, kind gifts, and their enthusiasm for this endeavor. I thank my circle of singing sisters, who support me and love me exactly as I am. I can never adequately express my thanks to my amazing husband Cliff Berns, who supports and helps me on every step of every day.
I have so many goals and hopes for this trip. I hope to refine my asana and pranayama practice, to study the yoga sutras, to chant, to deepen my understanding of yoga philosophy, and to take excellent care of myself, with good food, sleep and relaxation to make all the work possible. And yes, some shopping and site seeing as well! I also hope to keep my mind open to new experience, new friends and new learning that I cannot anticipate.
I will be thinking of you and keeping you posted about the journey. Thanks so much for your love and support.
We will miss you, but are so grateful for your dedication to learning and bringing your
inspiration back to us!
Have a wonderful trip and travel safely!
Karen I hope you have a great trip. I am sure your trip will fill your life with the greatest learning experiences, not only about iyengar yoga, but also about life as LIFE itself. Namaste
