It has been a tough week. I was moderately sick on Sunday, and really sick on Monday and Tuesday. I had to miss practice and class for two days, which was very disappointing. On Tuesday I was literally in bed all day. I felt a bit better and was able to go to class and practice on Wednesday. Now it is Thursday, and I am doing quite a lot better.
Being sick not only took me away from yoga, but also from some final shopping and site-seeing that I had hoped to do. No big deal – I am just glad that the cold didn’t last longer than it did. We are now getting ready to pack and weigh our bags. Even though we are so close to the end, the time in the practice hall is so vibrant, engaging and educational. I will come home with so much to practice and to share. Nina and I both think we are going to go prop crazy, with many new items we hope to get for our studios and our home yoga rooms. It is great to learn how to use props in new ways, and also how to work more deeply with no props at all.
Nina and I made our deposits and received our confirmation letters for our next trip in August 2010. It seems strange to have to plan ones life so far ahead, but that seems to be the only way to make it work. This trip was easier in some ways, but certainly had its challenges, as I had more illness this time. Being with Nina has been very supportive and our flat has been not just comfortable, but warm and friendly. Our landlord Sanjeev and our flatmate Oscar have both been wonderful.
Tonight is “Insitute Night” – the last Thursday of the month they show a film or Geeta gives a lecture. Tonight she will speak on the last chapter of the Bhagavad Gita, so that should be good. It also gives Nina and I a chance to wear our lovely new Indian outfits, and we are looking forward to that. I am feeling ready to come home. I feel satsified with what I was able to do here, and hope that I can remain focused and inpired in my practice when I return home. I will be happy to see my wonderful husband, my friends and students very soon.
Karen
have a safe trip home; I really miss you!
I am glad that you are feeling a bit better.

Dear Karen,
I am sorry to hear you were sick. I hope this round is short-lived. It seems unreal that someone who takes care of herself as well as you do should have to suffer through another respiratory illness. I am finally well and holding steady. Thank you for being part of my birthday, even from so far away it felt as if you were with us. I hope your travel home is easy and stress-free. We can’t wait to see you.
Love, Riki
